“On the 7th of July 2012 I got a flight to London Heathrow accompanied by my friend Niall. We had accommodation booked and looked forward to seeing the sights of the capital city. We arrived to a great change in the weather; Northern Ireland was pouring with rain whilst London was a very sunny 20 degrees. Whilst we welcomed the warm sunshine it did cause a little worry and concern especially when we checked the weather and it was to be warmer the next day."

"The 8th arrived and we need not have worried as we looked out of the hotel windows en route to breakfast the rain was pouring. After a good health breakfast of fruit and yogurt we set of in the rain to start our sightseeing tour of some of the best know sights of London.”

After a walk of about 40 minutes and having already taken in some sights, notably St James park, the mall and a distant view of the palace we arrived at our first planned attraction. Our first planned attraction was the small square surrounded by very nice and expensive houses we dropped our bags and changed into more appropriate sight seeing attire. Having changed into more fitting clothing weather for our sightseeing trip, dressed in shorts trainers and t-shirts we began the next stage of our trip.

20 minutes later we arrived dry due to an unexpected change of weather at Wellington Arch. The route we travelled was much busier than expected with 25,000 other similar dressed individuals heading in the same direction. We stood listening to ‘M People’ playing live and waited to begin the rest of our tour. As we waited 25,000 people and our selves shuffled forward and began to get excited and wait for the bleep that said the tour had started."

"Over the next 58 minutes and 1 second I took in the sights of London; Pall Mall, the embankment , St Paul’s Westminster Bridge the Houses of Parliament and Whitehall. The weather which had threatened to turn to sunshine didn’t let us down, it poured with rain for 56 minutes of the tour.

Some may ask why I would travel to London whiz, past the sights with out stopping in the pouring rain all on a Sunday morning. Well the answer is simple to raise with my friend around £500 for The Ulyssess Trust a charity which provides funding for cadet forces to experience challenging expeditions and adventurous activities."

My next adventure is a Triathlon in September……….
